There must be some software difference between the two modes (perhaps open-vm-tools configured differently? Unsure).ģ.

On a liveCD version of Backbox, the ability to copy/paste a file DOES work (drag/drop does not). Either of these is met with a similar error to the nature of 'Error when getting information for file '//tmp/VMWareDnD//'.' I did not do much set up of open-vm-tools since this is not my primary OS to use.Ģ. The ability to copy/paste files also never works. On an installed Backbox guest, the ability to drag/drop files never works. I have tested the following guest VMs, with different results:ġ. What is frustrating is that the behavior is very different depending on the type of guest configured. I encounter issues with copy/paste functionality either never working at all (Backbox when installed) or else working, but 'hanging' or 'locking' and no longer working without a reboot of the guest (Kali when installed from ISO). Guest OS known affected: Kali 2016.2 (Debian based) and Backbox 4.7 (Ubuntu based) OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 (issue was also present on prior OS versions, but the version #s were not noted at the time).įusion 8.5.5 (also confirmed to occur on Fusion 7.1.3 and possibly other versions that were not noted)
